Pandora, Webcasting see victory in Senate

CNET - The U.S. Senate on Tuesday afternoon passed the Webcaster Settlement Act, the legislation that lays the groundwork for Web radio stations to negotiate reduced royalty rates for the songs they stream over the Web.
Verizon says $28.1B buyout of Alltel on track

AP - Verizon Wireless says it is moving forward with plans to acquire Alltel Corp. for $28.1 billion, although the country's financial climate has worsened since the companies reached an agreement four months ago.
eBay Buys Bill Me Later, Cuts 10 Percent of Workforce

PC Magazine - Internet auction site eBay will cut 10 percent of its workforce, or about 1,000 jobs, the company said Monday. On a more positive note, eBay also announced Monday that it will acquire online billing company Bill Me Later for $820 million in cash, plus two Danish Web properties.
